Weekly Wardrobe 9

Hello all! Just a quick post to let you know that the photos from the Marks&Spencer casting session are now officially up on Facebook! Joy of a Roommate and I have currently got...No votes! And the pictures aren't great either, but if you're interested/feeling supportive, you can check them out here.

I call this outfit "My-husband's-an-executive-and-we're-off-to-spend-the-weekend-on-our-yacht". I wore it to work last Friday in a fit of positivity. The dress and ponytail made me feel all bouncy and summery (my colleagues were horrified and fascinated by this, given that it was 11 degrees and raining outside!) and I added all the pastel touches to keep it on-trend.

Weekly Wardrobe 8

As you may or may not have noticed, the format of the blog has undergone an alteration or two. It was, quite rightly, pointed out to me today that using the over-excited, tiled photo of the Eiffel Tower made it a bit difficult to focus on the pictures/read any of the words... Anyway, it's springtime and about time for a wee change so here it is; Dressing up in Paris mark two.

To mark this completely un-momentous occasion, here's another weekly wardrobe post of what I wore today. Very much loving head-to-toe white or beige at the moment. It's the perfect canvas onto which to throw lotsandlots of jewellery.

Weekly Wardrobe 7

Another beautiful sunny day in the city of love! Joy of a roommate and I have just got back from today's photo-shoot, but because I don't want to put anything up that's sub-par, it's going to take me a while to write it well. In the meantime I will tide you over with Thursday's outfit because I felt good in it AND someone told me I looked like a princess... The world is full of kind people!

Weekly Wardrobe 6

After this weekend's flower-fest, I decided it might be fun to carry it on in my working wardrobe so I threw caution to the wind and donned this lovely little number. Needless to say, at work I looked like a parrot on speed next to so many chic blackbirds (tenuous simile anyone?) and my groundbreaking decision to bear some arm seemed to baffle some and worry others.

"Si les anglaises deviennent sexy...ou va-t-on?" exclaimed one French female colleague upon catching sight of the nifty little cut-out in the back of my top. This, for all of you who don't speak French, means "If English girls are becoming sexy... what are we (by which I assume she means French girls) going to do?" Well ladies, how about you all take a trip to the UK? Pretty sure you're still considered sexy as hell over there.

Have a lovely Friday all!

Weekly Wardrobe 5

So for this week's "Weekly Wardrobe" we're keeping it pastel pretty. To be honest, I was really just looking for another excuse to wear the rabbit jumper - I love it! The resulting look is probably how I would describe "smart-casual", if I didn't hate that term with a passion! I felt like a Stepford wife on her way to a BBQ. Should really have taken a potato salad to work with me or something...

The colour palette did, inevitably, make me stand out like a pale and sore thumb in the sea of black crows that is the Paris populace. I don't care though - as far as I'm concerned, this city could use a little Spring. Enjoy what's left of Tuesday!

Weekly Wardrobe 4

I, for one, was inordinately pleased to hear that stripes are in for Spring-Summer 2013. I love stripes. I think stripes are blimmin' great. They are fun, they are striking, they are slimming, and they are classic. This skirt is another new favourite from the ever-reliable, endlessly attractive Asos and I love it (even if my boss did ask me why I'd decided to wear my curtains...) Have realised, however, that footwear must be very carefully reflected upon with this skirt because, as previously stated, I am of a...petite stature and pairing this (supposedly "midi") skirt with flat shoes makes me look as if I have no legs to speak of.

You must excuse the quality of these photos. They were shot approximately 10 minutes after a chunk of snow had fallen off the awning of a shop and onto...my face, to the great hilarity of our (normally-kindly) local Tunisian greengrocer. I was feeling understandably disgruntled. Nonetheless, I was feeling so great in my stripes that I felt I ought to share it. Now please Europe, enough snow, a little Paris in the Springtime would be great...

Weekly Wardrobe 3

Happy Tuesday all,  Monday is behind us which means the week already looks infinitely less dreadful! To make matters better: the sun came out today! Spring has officially sprung in Paris (although I have been warned not to get too used to it, as another 5 days of solid rain are reportedly on the horizon...huzzah...) Anyway, in celebration of the spring-like nature of today I decided to wear my new favourite purchase. Cue gorgeous mint-green circle skirt from Marina Retro. I love circle skirts - there's nothing quite so guaranteed to make you feel like a princess as you twirl around corners and the mint green keeps it up to date with pastel colours being very in for Spring-Summer 2013.

Weekly Wardrobe 2

This is what I wore to work on Friday - no more casual dress for me! Pencil skirts are probably one of my favourite things ever - they're flattering, they're elegant and they can be styled in about a thousand different ways. So naturally I am more than pleased to see that they are one of the key trends for Spring-Summer 2013, playing an integral part in the collections of Roland MouretBurberry ProrsumDKNYLoewe and many more! Anyway, this is me paying homage to the pencil skirt. Another Paris shoot on its way very soon!

Weekly Wardrobe 1

So, I've decided to add a new feature - you lucky people! Alongside the shoots done around the city, I am going to start doing a post a week about an outfit worn to work (dressing up...in Paris, innit?) in which I feel good, because - as far as I'm concerned - that's what clothes are for: making you feel good. Anyway, it will normally be one, but I'm going to do three this week- just to get us started! Enjoy!

Jumper - H+M,
Skirt - Roland Mouret, bought on Ebay,
Boots - Hobbs,
Necklace - New Look
This outfit made me feel wonderfully chic and French... and one hair-bleaching away from looking like Andy Warhol!

Trousers - H+M

Boots - Marks and Spencers

Earrings - Turkish Shop in Edinburgh Grassmarket

Friday at work is normally an unspoken "casual dress" day, a trend against which I bitterly fight every week, wearing a pencil skirt just to spite this - quite frankly - lazy concept! This week, however, I caved and decided that simple could also be good, and you can't really beat the jeans and white shirt combination. Also, wearing flat shoes helped my Friday-spring-in-the-step bounciness no end!

Happy Friday all! Hope you have a good one.
