Outandaboutfit 4

Hi all - well this has been one busy weekend! Yesterday Commenced with a Casting and Ended with Eurovision (see what I did there?) Anyway, in my last post I promised you all something special and I'm sure you've all been holding your breath since then so I'll put you out of your misery and enlighten you.

The legend that is Marks&Spencer are currently looking for a new French-dwelling muse for next season's collection and were holding an open casting session on Friday and Saturday. Being a Brit, I have an ingrained fondness for the brand. On top of that, dear old M&S has been making a real effort in recent years to keep up with the times, and the clothes they sell are looking more and more on trend, and less and less like something your (albeit very stylish) grandmother might wear. Take this skirt for example, it's straight off the Burberry runway!

Anyway, joy of a roommate and I thought the chance to be the face of M&S was too great, and too hilarious to pass up, so bright and early Saturday morning, we toddled on down to the So Ouest shopping centre in Levallois. First of all we had to fill in a questionnaire about our style before being handed over to a couple of stylish ladies who looked us up and down before thrusting outfits at us. I must say, mine was not at all what I would have chosen, but lovely all the same! Then we had our make-up and hair done before going to have a wee pout in front of a professional photographer.

The photos will now be put up on Facebook and whoever gets the most "likes" wins! Simple as that. I'll post the link as soon as they're up and let you all see for yourselves!

In other news, this was the outfit I wore to go to a Eurovision Party near the Hotel des Invalides. I got my belly out and great fun was had by all (well done Denmark). Am currently working on this week's post so keep your eyes peeled for that and, in the meantime, enjoy what's left of the weekend!

Outandaboutfit 3

Hello everyone, hope your Mondays were as un-terrible as possible. Currently working on this week's post which should be up tomorrow night, but in the meantime I'm bringing you another Outandaboutfit (a long-neglected feature!) I call this look "Hoboboudica" (that's the Queen of the Iceni tribe if she was a tramp).

Earrings - My Ma's
Necklace - Asos

Dress worn as skirt - Topshop
Top worn as top - H+M
Boots - My Ma's
Bracelet - Asos

This particular outfit was worn to go watch "Iron Man 3" at the cinema last week. The cinema is one of my favourite ways to spend time (and money) so I was happy just to be there, but the fact that the film was a tremendous romp with Robert Downey Jr. made it so much better. Any thoughts on the film? Or the man? If so - leave a comment! (WHO'S clutching at straws?!)

Outandaboutfit 2

Sunday night, Joy of a Roommate and I headed to the Electroswing night at La Bellevilloise, a brilliant bar in the city’s 20th arrondissement. The evening was a celebration of all things swing – there was a swing dance class, a vintage clothes stall, a retro hairdresser and a live band. Needless to say, I was excited.

Now, swing dancing was popular between the 1920s and the 1950s, which gave us retro clothing options aplenty. However, having reasonably got into Mad Men, it seemed only fitting that we plumped for the 50s. Joy of a Roommate borrowed this lovely “Audrey” dress from the aptly named Lindy Bop, and I went with one of my new favourite items – the Marina Retro mint circle skirt.

Whatever the theme was meant to be, no one else seemed to have got the memo as the vast majority were wearing jeans...but peu importe! Much better to be overdressed than underdressed, and I think we made a dashing pair – especially when bopping our way around a crowded dancefloor.

Sunday partying may have made for a grumpy me on Monday morning, but it was more than worth it. Swing nights are apparently a common thing down this neck of the woods, so I definitely encourage you to head to La Bellevilloise if you find yourself in Paris - reasonably-priced food/drink, lovely atmosphere, great decor and I have recently discovered they do a Jazz brunch on a Sunday morning! Mind = blown. For your sake, dear readers (if there ARE any of you!) I'll check it out and report back - watch this space and happy Friday for tomorrow!

Another new feature for you all - just a little one this time - to give you a few snapshots of clothes what I wear when I'm being sociable. Enjoy!
